Lorenzo Somis

Concerto for violin in E flat major


The Italian violinist and composer Lorenzo 'Ardij' Somis died in Turin in 1775 when he was 87 years old. The brother of the more famous Giovanni Battista Somis (1686-1763), he studied in Bologna where he became a member of Accademia Filarmonica. He is known to have lived in Paris for some time, but spent most of his life as a second violinist in the royal chapel in Turin.
