Elske Tinbergen is a (baroque) cellist, cello teacher, ensemble coach, and doctor in the arts from The Netherlands. She regularly performs with Giardino Musicale - her chamber music ensemble - and with various other groups and orchestras at home and abroad.

A solo CD (with harpsichordist Jörn Boysen) containing Dutch baroque cello sonatas by Willem de Fesch and Alexis Magito appeared on the label of the Nederlands Muziek Instituut.

Her great interest in the history of the cello, in Dutch music, and visual arts led to her doctoral research at Leiden University. The title of her dissertation is The 'Cello' in the Low Countries; the Instrument and Its Practical Use in the 17th and 18th Centuries (2018).
